Located along Middlefield Road between 1st and 8th Avenues, Phase 1 of the rezoning was completed and adopted by the Board of Supervisors in 2015. The rezoning replaces the previous C-1/NFO/S-1/DR zoning with the new Neighborhood Mixed Use (NMU) designation. The standards included in the new NMU Zoning are consistent with the standards incorporated in the Community Plan, as well as with the community’s expressed preferences for Middlefield Road. They are intended to help maintain and enhance Middlefield Road’s character while increasing the safety and aesthetics of the street for all users, including pedestrians and bicyclists. Because the vision for this portion of Middlefield Road is not dramatically different from the existing use pattern, the new zoning regulations incorporate the majority of the prior zoning regulations, with only minor changes.
