This map shows areas of unincorporated San Mateo County with soils rated and mapped by the NRCS as Class I, Class II, and Class III soils capable of growing artichokes or Brussels sprouts, and soils with a Storie Index rating of 80-100. Site specific soil testing may be needed to confirm or clarify the boundaries of such areas. Soil type is one of many factors used by the Planning Department to determine what constitutes Prime Agricultural Land as defined by the San Mateo County General Plan. As a result, this map is for guidance purposes only, and should not be relied upon for the purpose of delineating Prime Agricultural Land.
